Gua Musang is big district situated on the southern part of Kelantan. It has a few places of interest but so far, I have been to the Temiar Aborigine Area only. Actually, I went to this place with a tour group from Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

Temiar Aborigine Village was the first place that we visited in Gua Musang district. This village is not a real village in the jungle but just a few of their bamboo houses built by the main road. It was said that the government compensated them with free brick houses when the government took part of their land to build this east-west inter-state road.

Here, the temiar people showed us how to use a long blow pipe. Some foreigners tried the blow-pipe and one of them could hit the 'bull's eye'. The aborigines there sell their small blow-pipe with darts in a bamboo container for RM25. If you get one in town, it will got at least twice the price.

Temiar Rafflesia Sanctum is an area not far from the Temiar Village, about 45 minutes using a 4-wheel drive through a very muddy jungle track. Then, we have to trek about 25 minutes in the jungle to see the Rafflesia. I was lucky to be there when there was one in blooming for 3rd day. I was told that the flower will not last long and will not be nice during raining time. The guide told me that it was the Rafflesia keithii species. The Kelantanis called the flower Rafflesia kelantanesis.

There were 2 small Rafflesia bud near the blooming Rafflesia. The guide said one will bloom in 6 months time. So, those who want to see a life blooming Rafflesia, visit Cameron Highlands sometime in September 2011. Call to ask first before going.

After taking photographs with the flower, we went to a small waterfall nearby to rest and have a light break before walking back to the Land-Rover. I would not call it a waterfall but rather a small river.

Lastly, kindly help keep Kelantan clean by throwing your rubbish into proper places.
