Taman Rimba is a forest park which is located just opposite the Telok Bahang Dam. It is open to all and entrance is FREE. There is a small car park space which is also free of charge. There is a slight slope down from the carpark down to a small walking and resting area as can be seen in the right first row photo.

Just before entering the park, the is one ranger office. A little further up from the entrance of the park, there are a few buildings where one is a hall and a forest museum (right second row photo) and another is an information centre (left third row photo). These buildings are on the left side of the road.

On the right side of the road inside the park, there is slope down to another road which has a river passing through it. Visitors do not go to that side as there are not many things. (See right third row photo)

A little further up, taking the first left turn and walk straight up the slope, there is a hostel at the top of the slope (left forth row photo). A little further from the hostel there is a pathway down towards to car park area (right forth row photo).

After getting out from the first left turn of the main road in the park, take the second left turn. Just a few meters away from the turning, there is one road split (left fifth row photo). The left road will lead to a 'dead-end'. Following the right road at the junction, there is a fish and duck pond on the left side of the road and a little further up, there is another pond at the end of the road (right fifth row photo). These two ponds have nothing interesting (in fact, looks like nothing in them)

Get out from this second left turn of the main road and take the third left turn which will lead to a camping site (left sixth row photo). Walk down from the right camp site towards the main road in the park. There is a cooking area for campers (right sixth row photo). Continue going down from the cooking area, is the main road in the park, so walk little further up till the top end of the main raod where the river is much wider. The special thing about this place is that the upper of of the river is bigger than the bottom part of the river. Maybe it was man-made.

If you were to ask me, I would say that this park has nothing much to see (partly cos it is a forest resert and should be wild and unkept) UNLESS you love hiking, want to camp here or see PENANG's FOREST RESERVE! Penang Tourism promotes this place as a trekkers' paradise because it has trails for people with different levels of fitness. The highest level will take you about 400m up the steep hill. I am sorry I can show you level 1 only cos I am afraid to go into the jungle alone and physically not very capable. So, come prepared with some friends too.

Opening time is hrs and closing time is hrs. Entrance fee is free. Lastly, remember to "Keep Penang Clean".
