Penang National Park area is situated in Teluk Bahang, on the north-west part of Penang Island and covers 12 km2 of land area and 14 km2 of sea area. In 1928, it was gazetted as Pantai Acheh Forest Reserve but on 10-Apr-2003 it was gazetted as a national park.
Penang National Park is open to all and entrance is free. Go to the Information Counter to register where you want to go. For those who want to walk the canopy, you need to pay about RM5/= and get an Entry Permit. Nature Guide is not required but they can be hired at the entrance into the park.
There is a splitting point where one will lead to Muka Head which will pass by University Science Malaysia Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (USM CEMACS) and Monkey Beach. Another route will to Canopy walkway, Teluk Kampi and Pantai Kerachut.
Because I went alone, I decided to go until University Science Malaysia Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (USM CEMACS) area first. On the way to this place, you will pass Pasir Pandak Bridge and Sungai Tukun Bridge. Then, you will pass a splitting point. Follow the coastal way to go to USM CEMACS. I took about an hour to reach USM CEMACS.
If you turned back after reaching USM CEMACS, you will not see much except to enjoy yourself at the beach there. Therefore, I recommend you go further until Muka Head.
Those interested in taking public transportation (bus) to Penang National Park can take RapidPenang bus number 101, 102 and 501. These buses can be taken from KOMTAR or at the Penang Ferry Terminal and will usually pass Tanjung Bunga and Batu Ferringhi. Lastly, kindly "Keep Penang Clean" by throwing rubbish into proper places.
Opening time is hrs and closing time is hrs. Entrance fee is RM (year 2013 price).
