Teluk Bahang beach is on the west side of Penang's northern coastal line. The beaches along Tanjung Tokong, Tanjung Bunga and Batu Ferringhi are difficult / cannot to be seen on the way to west side of Penang. Forget about viewing the beaches along these stretches of beach as the road is winding and dangerous. So drive carefully.

After Batu Ferringhi, the road is high and winding with some beaches which are not easily accessible to public (see first row photos). This is because they are a little rocky, 'sloppy' and difficult to find parking space, except for walkers and people who use public transport. The right first row photo shows a private house.

After this area, along the way toward north-west Penang Island, the road is winding and quite high up from the coastal line again. This stretch does not have beaches that are easily accessible to public. However, steep slope with small trees can be seen along this section. The left second row photo shows a section of beach taken along this stretch. The right second row photo shows an eating place in front of that section of beach which is open to all and easily accessible.

After the high winding road, the coastal line is about the same level as the road again. There is a very big vacant land opposite the Penang Cultural Centre. (See third row photos) Inside this vacant land, there is an Indian temple called Kuil Sri Singamuga Kaliamann. This stretch of beach (see last row photos) is open to all and of course, like all the beaches mentioned here, entrance is FREE and parking is FREE too. Just remember to "Keep Penang Clean".

After this stretch until the Teluk Bahang round-about, there are shophouses and the beach is not easily accessible. Take the left turn at the round-about to go to other non-beach areas in Teluk Bahang, like the Penang Butterfly Farm, Penang Forest Reserve and Teluk Bahang Dam. Go straight from the round about to go to homestay area and Penang National Park office. I saw a guest house operator and she told me that a room cost about Rm18 for fan room and Rm30 per night for air-cond. I am not sure about the operator's licence for this. For homestay program, go to a licenced homestay operator.
