The main chinese temple in this area is Kuam Im Teng or Goddess of Mercy Temple located along Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling or previously known as Lebuh Pitt (Pitt Street). The opening hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. This temple was built in 1800 and was dedicated to Ma Cho the deity of Seamen for the sailors and workers around this area. However, it was later changed to Guan Yin. Like most chinese temple structures, the roof has crafted dragons and other things and it has two sculptured stone lions guarding the house on each side of the door. The left top row photo shows Kuan Im Teng. The right top row photo shows carving at on Kuan Im Teng's roof. The left second row photo shows a collection of chinese 'gods' under a tree outside Kuan Im Teng. The right second row photo shows a collection of indian 'gods' under a tree outside Kuan Im Teng. There are other chinese temples but they are located in other areas of George Town like areas off Jalan C.Y.Choy and areas around Jelutong. I will try to get some more photos of chinese temples which are inside George Town area in the near future. Opening time is hrs and closing time is hrs. Entrance fee is RM (year 2013 price).
