Penang Wan Than Mee (Chinese)

Wan Than is actually minced pork meat wrapped with a thin layer wheat sheet. Wan Than Mee can be in the form of thin stripes (normal) or wider type. It is made from wheat too. Wan Than Mee is usually dipped into boiling water to make it warm and soften it. There are two methods of serving this food.

The first method is shown on the left side photo where the mee is added to some oil and sauces like soy sauce and black sweet sauce. A small bowl of soup is served together with it. The other method is putting soup (boiled with chicken and / or pig bones) onto it together with the other ingredients as shown in the right side photo. The ingredients added to it include wan than, chicken meat, char siew and some vegetables. Some stalls may add mushroom to it.

This food can be found in most coffee shops. One bowl of this food is normally RM3.00 to RM3.50 (year 2013 price). Instead of using the wan than mee, hor fun can also be used instead of the mee.
