Penang Lam Mee (Chinese)
Lam Mee-Bihun is a type of soup noodle with chicken meat, prawn, eggs and bean sprout. The photo shown here has fishballs and meatball added to it. The soup is a clear soup, usually boiled using chicken and maybe with pork for its taste. Some stalls might add herbal 'stuff' to it to give a slightly different taste from other soup dishes which are mostly boiled with chicken too. One bowl of this food is normally RM3.00 to RM3.50 (year 2013 price). Lam Mee in some other places might be Lor Mee. Lor Mee is usually sold along with Hokkien Mee (Hokkien Prawn Mee). So be carefull when they say they sell Lam Mee because their Lam Mee might turn out to be Lor Mee. This food is quite special as it is rarely found. I like the lam mee stall at Hup Kee along Jalan Burma in Pulau Tikus area. The soup there is a little different from the normal lam mee maybe because they add some herbs to it. |
