Penang Koay Teow - Bihun / Tang Hoon Soup (Chinese)
Koay Teow is made of rice batter into a thin smooth layer (I think) which is then made into long pieces. Koay Teow Soup is a type of soup noodle with duck meat, pork meat, fishballs and sliced fried fishballs added to it. The soup is usually boiled using chicken and pork. Different stalls may use different things to boil the soup. Usually bihun or mee can mixed with koay teow. One bowl of this food is normally RM3.00 to RM3.50 (year 2013 price). Tang Hoon Soup can be served in many way. It can be served using the same kind of soup as Koay Teow Soup or it can be served with soup and ingredients like Yong Tau Fu. The right side photo is more like Yong Tau Fu style but it has additional ingredients called 'Yu Cha Koay' which is usually put into broth or eat with dessert drink like 'Heng Jin Cha'. One bowl of this food is normally RM3.00 to RM3.50 (year 2013 price). |
