In Penang, Moon Cake Festival is more of a chinese Culture celebrated by people of chinese race. With the exception of chinese Christian if not mistaken, this festival is celebrated on the 15th day of Chinese eighth month. However, the MoonCake festival 'mood' will start 15 to 30 days earlier.

During this festival, infact, a few days before the day, parents like to buy lanterns for their children. Moon cakes will be sold during during this time and can have many flavours like red bean paste, Chocolate almond, Lotus seed, green tea, etc. I did not visit any place during this day this year 2008 because no celebration was held in Penang island if not wrong.

Many lanterns of modern days use bulbs instead of candles, good in a way because bulbs are safer. The photos shown here were taken in 2007 at Padang Kota Lama. A few people were there with their lanterns mostly using candles, the old fashion way.
