In Penang, Khoo Kongsi (left first row photo) is a building which is considered a cultural place and is protected as a heritage site. This building is inside an area called Cannon Square which is closed by grill gates at night. This place is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm. To me, this building is an art house because almost the whole house is filled with 'arts' (see all the photos). The stairs and the front wall outside the house (right first row photo) were carved with words and pictures. The pillars were also carved into shapes of animals, dragons (left second row photo), etc. Some part of the ceilings are also decorated with carving and modern lighting (right second row photo). The walls inside the building (left and centre of third row photos) are filled with drawings of 'gods' and some with cultural values. The doors were painted with pictures of chinese sages/lords/gods or have old chinese words/characters on them (right third row photo). This place is actually the place where the Penang Khoo clan people pray to their ancesters. The left last row photo shows a room where planks with the names of the Khoo's ancester are placed. The right last row photo shows the 'gods' that were placed in the centre section of the house. This is the section where the walls were drawn with pictures. The back of this section is the place where most drawings with cultural moral values were drawn. There is a 'museum' at the ground/lower floor of the house. The 'musuem' shows some history of the clan and how they name their children according to generations. Lastly, there is a charge of RM5.00 per person per entry to the house. The 'ticket' is actually a round sticker to show that you had paid the entry fee. Two postcards will be given together with a sticker. So, unless you are a person interested in arts or history about Penang Khoo clan, then this place has nothing much to see.				Coming events 20-Feb-2010 : Chinese New Year
