Islamic Civilisation Park is situated in Wan Man Island which is at the mouth of Terengganu River. This park covers the whole island with an area of about 33 hectar. This park has river cruise pavilion, restaurant, Convention Centre, the Crystal Mosque and many replicas of islamic civilisation building or mosque.
Crystal Mosque is the most popular structure or building in Islamic Civilisation Park. It is situated furthest away from the entrance archway. This mosque was built using steel and crystal effect glass. It stands on stilts built under water near the north-east coast of Pulau Wan Man. The Convention Centre is next to Crystal Mosque. It is the biggest convention centre in the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. Occasions such as meetings, conference, exhibition and weddings can be held at this place. Next to the Convention Centre is the Tok Ku Paloh Jetty Complex. From here, visitors can go for river cruise, paddle boat ride and canoeing which cost about RM10 for seat / boat / canoe per hour. Then, there is a restaurant and some shops in an area called B'beteng. I ate here for late lunch. Oh yes, the time of my photograph is half an hour faster for all my photos taken during this east coast trip. I just realised when I downloaded all my photos to my computer. Monument Park in Islamic Civilisation Park has 21 Islamic monuments or replicas of some popular islamic buildings. Some monuments here are Kubbah As-Sakhrah of Palestin, Mohamed Ali Mosque of Egypt, KulSharif Mosque of Russia apart from some replicas mentioned in the photos section. Some of the buildings or monuments display history of the place, has video shows and the replicas of famous islamic structures on the top part of the building. Some examples are Al-Haram Mosque of Saudi Arabia, Taj Mahal of India and Al-Hambra Palace of Spain. There are guided tours on trams or buggies in this Monument Park. Visitors can also rent bicycle to ride inside this park. There is a small entertainment area / stage, a restaurant and some shops inside this Monument Park. To get to Wan Man Island, tourist can take the heritage bus C-02 at Shahbandar Square in town. It cost about RM1 per one-way trip. The last stop for this C-02 heritage bus is Islamic Civilisation Park. I was told the last bus was 5:00pm. I came out about 7 minutes late. The bus already make a turn and was at the outer roundabout. I was almost reaching the roundabout but the driver did not see me. I think some passenger saw me waving to the bus and the driver stopped for me. I was very lucky that day and would like to thank the people who told the bus driver. Lastly, if you were to visit any where in Terengganu, kindly keep the places clean by throwing your rubbish into rubbish bins. |
