Taiping Zoo and Night Safari is located inside Taiping Lake Garden. It was established in . It has an area of about km2
So, what can you see inside this zoo? Normal animals that are found in most zoos. The Malayan Tigers were lazy and were sleeping most of the time during the day time and also the night time. The Asian Elephants were more interesting as the baby elephant can often be seen holding its mother's tails with its trunk. The big male shook its head to left and right most of the time. The Malayan Gaurs were eating most of the time. I saw 2 Bornean Orang Utans. The two shown by the left third row photo were fat and not active. One of the most interesting acts I photographed in the zoo was the Malayan Tapir. The male was trying to get on top of the female as shown by the right third row photo. The female kept running away from it so they were running around most of the time. A few species of hornbills can be found in hornbills area. I do not like to take photos of animals inside cages because the camera will focus on the front item that is the cage and make the animals behind blur. However, I managed to get one which was gripping on the cage. Another interesting act I got was an otter scratching its neck as seen in right forth row photo. Otters eat during the day and night too. I got a night photo of an otter eating at night photographed using night vision mode. The last row photos show some owls. In the day time, the owls will hide in shady places usually at the back of the cage. The Night Safari and the Zoo is actually the same place. The only difference is that some night creatures like the owls prefer to stand in front at night. In the day time, they will stand at the back of the cage or inside its 'house' where it is darker as shown in left bottom row photo. The left owls taken using night vision mode is clearer because the cage netting was thinner and the camera did not know that they were in front. Lastly, keep the Zoo clean by throwing rubbish into trashbins. The entrance fee into the Zoo was RM12.00 for adults, RM8.00 for children above 3 years old and RM10.00 for senior citizens. |
