Langkawi
Langkawi consists of 99 islands off the sea of Perlis and Thailand. The main island is Langkawi Island which is about 30 km from Kuala Perlis and 51 km from Kuala Kedah. It covers a land area of 467 km2 and is a popular island resort. In 2006, Langkawi was declared as a geopark by Langkawi Development Authority (LADA). Eco-tourism is now one of the main attractions of Langkawi. Actually the main Geoforest Park is situation in 3 areas. 2 areas are on Langkawi Island and the third is on Tuba Island and Dayang Bunting Island. Southern Langkawi have many types of restaurants such as restaurant selling arabic kind of food, restaurant selling Thai kind of food, restaurant selling Japanese kind of food, restaurants selling western kind of food and restaurants selling local food and sea food. Other popular activities here are sea sports such as sailing, crusing and health or beauty treatment such as spa and foot massage. |

I also went to Cenang Beach area. There, you can find many resorts, hotels restaurants, tours and travel agencies, spas and shops. Along the way, you might pass by Laman Padi Langkawi or Langkawi Padi Field where the admission is free. When I was there, I found the place empty except a restaurant and a spa shop opened. Nobody can show you around. Not impressive. )
One place to visit here is Langkawi Underwater World. Ask the operators about the feeding time and the entrance fee. Another place to visit would be Awana Porto Malai if you are interested in sailing and cruising. |
